Letters to the Editor

I would like to offer a very large thank you for the support of the 10th Buchanan at Greenwich Block Party Benefit for Breast Cancer benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Bay Area Affiliate. We all are touched by this disease and want to feel like we can make a difference.

We are so thankful for the support of numerous organizations including Northside Publications; Hartman Studios; C.B. Hannegan’s restaurant; Matagrano Inc.; BiRite Foodservice Distributors; V&C Foods; Bob’s Produce; FreshPoint produce distributors; Svedka Vodka; Tres Agaves restaurant; Heck’s Bar Supplies; and Sweet Things Bakery. Financial sponsors were the S.F. Firefighters Union; Metropolitan Electrical Construction; Nick Dutto; Chief People; UCSF Medical Center; Hill and Co.; Golden Gate Restaurant Association; Briarcliff Wine Group LLC; and Horseshoe Tavern.

The event could not have been successful without the numerous volunteers including bar coordinator Shauna Matlin, auction/raffle coordinator Marcella Savino (who was thrilled again to have help from the San Francisco Junior League), and food coordinator Nicki Harris and crew.

We were very pleased to get such great support in a unknown economy and feel that by hosting this event we can bring positive energy to the neighborhood and help fight breast cancer.

Thank you for the excellent story on Andrew Luck and the Stanford football team.
As a recent Stanford graduate, it was great to see my old school team on the cover. As a football fan, I want to congratulate Michael Murphy on a well-written and entertaining story (September). Now I am really fired up for the season!

Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Go Stanford!

I just finished reading your paper and really enjoyed the Andrew Luck story. The quotes were great and the whole piece was very smooth and easy to read.

I was a quarterback in high school, and I think Luck has a chance to be an NFL star someday. I look forward to following his career at Stanford, and after reading about him I plan on going to Palo Alto to see him play.

It’s nice to see a local paper catching guys on the way up. Thank you for a well-written and interesting article.

Thank you and your team for the lovely story on Andrew Luck in your September issue.  What a fine young man!

We are regular readers of the paper, but this is the first time we felt compelled to write in on your coverage. As we are both Stanford grads, we greatly enjoyed the tone of the piece, and commend your sportswriter for his knowledgeable and entertaining thoughts and
tempo.

We also found the creative layout of the story and artwork aesthetically pleasing – balanced, eye-catching and well done.

Your publication has become a very enjoyable part of the beginning of our month. Keep up the good work.

Thank you.

Thank you very much for running the excellent story about the Poets Plaza (August) and myself. Ernie Beyl set just the right tone and had all the facts straight. And it was a pleasure to read. It should help us immensely with possible donors.
