Cybill Shepherd has made a great career out of being outrageous, and now we have a chance to see her splashy style on stage as she makes her San Francisco debut in a new one-woman comedy called Curvy Widow. It opens at the Post Street Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 3 and runs through Sunday, March 9. The previews begin Thursday, Jan 24.
Curvy Widow, written by Bobby Goldman, is about the adventures of a 50-something widow who rediscovers the world, which has changed much, particularly in the treacherous, and often-ludicrous arena of internet dating.
Her memoir, published in 2000, has an extraordinary title, revealing
her acerbic wit: Cybill Disobedience: How I Survived Beauty Pageants,
Elvis, Sex, Bruce Willis, Lies, Marriage, Motherhood, Hollywood, and
the Irrepressible Urge to Say What I Think.
Curvy Widow features set and costume design by David C. Woolard,
lighting design by Michael Gilliam, sound design by Sten Severson and
Mark Bennett, original music by Mark Bennett, and projection design by
Michael Clark. |
