Fresh from wowing audiences at the Chicago Lyric Opera’s production of Richard Strauss’s Die Frau Ohne Schatten, the exquisite dramatic soprano Deborah Voigt comes to San Francisco this month to sing Strauss again — this time Four Last Songs with the San Francisco Symphony.
Under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, Voigt will also be soloist for the symphony’s premiere of Samuel Barber’s Andromache’s Farewell.
The concerts are on Jan. 9-10 and 12-13 and will be broadcast on KDFC-FM (102.1) on Tuesday,
Voight and the S.F. Symphony will repeat the program at its annual Carnegie Hall concert in March. The soprano performed with the symphony earlier this season in Europe, but this marks her debut at Davies Symphony Hall.
Following each of the performances, MTT will take questions from the audience.
Deborah Voigt and the San Francisco Symphony: Davies Symphony Hall, Jan. 9-10 & 12-13. Tickets $25-$125 at the Symphony box office, 415-864-6000, or www.sfsymphony.org. |
